Welcome to Psychi! These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the Psychi mobile app, website, and related services (collectively, the "Service"). By creating an account or using Psychi, you agree to be bound by these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
1. Who We Are
Psychi provides access to non-clinical peer support through chat, phone, and video sessions. Our supporters are trained students or graduates in psychology or related fields. They are not licensed mental health professionals and do not provide therapy, counseling, diagnosis, crisis intervention, medical treatment, or professional mental health services.
2. Eligibility
You may use Psychi only if:
- You are at least 18 years old
- You currently reside in the United States
- You create an account using accurate information
- You agree to comply with these Terms
Supporters must also meet Psychi's training and onboarding requirements.
3. Not Medical or Emergency Services
Psychi is not a crisis hotline, medical service, or a substitute for professional mental health care.
Psychi cannot be used to contact emergency services.
If you are in crisis, suicidal, or experiencing a mental health emergency, call 988, dial 911, or visit your nearest emergency room immediately.
Supporters may encourage professional help but cannot diagnose, treat, prescribe, or manage mental health conditions.
4. Your Responsibilities
By using Psychi, you agree to:
- Use the Service respectfully and legally
- Not harass, threaten, or abuse supporters or other users
- Not share harmful, graphic, or inappropriate content
- Maintain the confidentiality of your session content
- Avoid using the Service while impaired or under the influence
- Keep your login credentials secure
You also agree not to:
- Impersonate anyone
- Use Psychi for commercial solicitation
- Interfere with or damage the platform
- Attempt to reverse-engineer or scrape the Service
- Upload unlawful or infringing content
5. User-Generated Content
You may submit content such as messages, profile information, and session interactions ("User Content"). By using the Service, you grant Psychi a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide license to host, process, display, and transmit your User Content as necessary to operate the Service.
You represent that:
- You own or have permission to submit the content, and
- Your content does not violate any laws or rights of others
Psychi is not responsible for User Content shared by you or others.
6. Supporter Responsibilities
Supporters agree to:
- Uphold the Peer Support Code of Conduct
- Complete required training
- Maintain confidentiality
- Avoid dual relationships or off-platform contact
- Refer users to emergency resources when appropriate
Violations may result in suspension or removal.
7. Safety & Escalation
To protect users, Psychi may review metadata, safety reports, or limited contextual information when a supporter escalates a safety concern. Psychi may contact you, emergency services, or appropriate authorities if we believe there is an imminent risk of harm, as described in our Safety Policy.
By using the Service, you consent to these safety-related actions.
8. Payments, Subscriptions, and Refunds
Some features may require payment. You agree that:
- Fees are billed through third-party processors such as Stripe, Apple In-App Purchases, or Google Play Billing
- Subscriptions automatically renew unless canceled
- You are responsible for any applicable taxes
- Refunds follow our Cancellation & Refund Policy
Psychi does not store full payment information.
9. Intellectual Property
All Psychi content—logos, text, graphics, training materials, and platform designs—is owned by Psychi and protected by intellectual property laws. You may not copy, distribute, modify, or create derivative works without written permission.
10. Termination
We may suspend or terminate your account if you:
- Violate these Terms
- Engage in harmful behavior
- Misuse or abuse the Service
You may delete your account anytime through the app or by contacting support.
11. Disclaimer of Warranties
The Service is provided "as-is" and "as available." Psychi makes no warranties, express or implied, including:
- Accuracy or reliability of content
- Availability of the platform
- Suitability for a specific purpose
- Safety or behavior of other users
You use the Service at your own risk.
12. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Psychi is not liable for:
- Any damages arising from your use of the Service
- Actions or statements made by supporters
- Loss of data or technical failures
- Emotional or psychological outcomes
- Harm resulting from reliance on non-clinical peer support
Psychi's total liability will not exceed the amount you paid (if any) in the past 12 months.
13. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Psychi, its staff, supporters, and affiliates from any claims, losses, damages, or expenses arising out of:
- Your misuse of the Service
- Your violation of these Terms
- Your interaction with other users
14. Dispute Resolution
a. Mandatory Arbitration
You agree that any dispute arising out of these Terms or the Service will be resolved through binding arbitration rather than in court.
b. Class-Action Waiver
You agree that disputes will be handled individually and will not be brought as part of a class action, class arbitration, or representative action.
c. Opt-Out
You may opt out of arbitration within 30 days of creating your account by contacting us at psychiapp@outlook.com.
15. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.
16. Severability
If any part of these Terms is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue to be valid and enforceable.
17. Entire Agreement
These Terms, along with the Privacy Policy and Safety Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and Psychi.
18. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated by email or in-app notification. Continued use of the Service means acceptance of the updated Terms.
